What is the Arts Team?

cross6An Arts Team was established in Church of the Cross because we believe human creativity and the arts have real significance. The God of scripture has revealed himself to be the God of truth, goodness and beauty, and all three deserve celebration by his people. The world is a broken place but the brokenness has not erased the glory of God that shines in his creation and in the creativity of the creatures he made in his image. The Arts Team exists to find ways to enhance the beauty of the Lord in our midst and thus enhance our worship, service and community. The Team has several tasks: to help educate the congregation in the arts, to encourage beauty and creativity in our life together, to oversee the art appearing in the church building, and to act as a living connection between the Church and the wider community of Hopkins and the Twin Cities. The cross of Christ reconciles us to God, so that the work of our hands and imaginations can be done as kingdom work to his glory. The Arts Team is one part of the congregational life of Church of the Cross that helps to turn this possibility into reality.
