We are hosting a time of prayer this Sunday morning, January 18th at 8am before our morning services. We lament the pain and fear impacting many in our city, and we pray for the power and comfort of Jesus to be made known to those who are hurting, angry, isolated, afraid or confused.
Transform MN, a Twin Cities ministry we have supported for many years, summed it up well: "We are called as Christians to pray for peace, for de-escalation, for immigrant families living in fear, and to grieve the woman who was killed." If you want to read further about our conviction to pray, please read Transform's thorough, charitable, biblical "Why We Pray" piece on their site. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to think further on the subject.
If you are available to join us, you are very welcome. Listed below is our prayer time as well as some additional offerings from our ministry partners.
OUR OFFERING
• Church of the Cross - Prayer for our Neighbors & Cities
Sunday, January 18, at 8am in the Great Hall downstairs
OFFERINGS FROM OTHERS
• Resurrection Anglican (Robbinsdale) is hosting Evening Prayer for these concerns on Monday, January 19, at 7:30pm. You are welcome to join.
• Transform MN is hosting an MLK Worship night on Monday, January 19, at 6pm. This event is cosponsored by churches like Wooddale and Restoration Anglican (among others) and will "remember Dr. King first and foremost as a Christian pastor whose commitment to nonviolence, human dignity, and justice flowed from deep biblical conviction, prayer, and love of neighbor. As we worship together across lines of race and ethnicity, we also bring before God the present realities facing immigrant neighbors in Minnesota—especially lawful immigrants and families experiencing fear, separation, and harm amid aggressive immigration enforcement."
