House on the Move
I Thessalonians 2:1-4
For you yourselves know, brothers, that our coming to you was not in vain. But though we had already suffered and been shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we had boldness in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of much conflict. For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive, but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.
Church - in our diocese our Bishop Stewart likes to remind us that we are “A House on the Move”. Pastor Christian gave us teaching this past weekend to cast vision and invitation around this phrase and invited pictures of “Family”. The church now, just like the early church in the bible here in Thessalonians, is moving out on mission (see Luke’s picture below), entrusted with the good news of the gospel for the sake of others in the name of Christ. And be encouraged we go not alone, we are a family (notice Bellas, Alexi’s, and Leif’s drawings) there are mothers and fathers (see Hanno’s picture and Emily’s), and our work is not in vain! One the best things about family, as Christian noted is that we share life together, we enjoy each others company, there is always a place at the table. Jesus loved being with his disciples, he knew their parents and loved to share meals together, just as we do now!
